Creative Plan Reception
The Hon. Mayor Wilda Diaz has announced that there will be a public display of the key recommendations of the City’s APA Award-Winning Creative Placemaking Plan on Thursday, May 26th at the Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts located at 339 Reade Street. The event will include a reception, from 6 to 8 PM, with refreshments, and displays of the plan’s finding and strategies for the Gateway Neighborhood.
The Perth Amboy Creative Placemaking Plan recently won the American Planning Association’s “Outstanding Plan for 2016 – Municipal”. The plan focuses on ways Perth Amboy can use arts and culture to empower economic and community development. The plan was developed with funding from an “Our Town” grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), which the city received, as well as from funds from the Dodge Foundation.
A Creative Team of 20 artists, stakeholders and officials from Perth Amboy developed the plan over the course of two years.
