Artist bio/statement:

$79.50 for a knitted tie?! These were the words that came to mind as my mom handed over a light grey knitted tie that she purchased on clearance at Marshall's. I was immediately taken aback by the original price and was determined to make my own tie as a result. A few hours later, I found myself in the knitting and crocheting aisle of Wal-Mart surrounded by an overwhelming variety of yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks. Not knowing where to start, I grabbed a skein of worsted weight black yarn and a crochet kit to begin on what I thought would be the next GQ-esq tie ever made.

3 hours of of YouTube videos, coffee and unimaginable amounts of frustration later, I decided to quit on my project. Weeks passed and just when I thought that I had mentally checked out, thoughts of designing and creating my own pieces began to replay in my mind. I finally decided to give it another shot, but this time, with a little more information on the type of piece I wanted to create.

From this experience, ITSKNIT was born. What started by way of utter frustration and failure has transformed into a labor of art and love. The connect thereafter was instant and now I'm excited to share this passion with all of you. ITSKNIT was founded on values of one of my favorite quotes, "Aspire to inspire." Each month, I will select an item in which I will donate a portion of the proceeds to a charitable cause. Just as yarn of all types and colors are knitted/ crocheted together to create a beautiful finished product, the same principle applies to humanity in lending a helping hand for the greater purpose.

I can't thank you all enough for the love and support that you've granted me throughout this venture. I hope that enjoy these items items as much as I enjoy designing them for you.
